Musical Menorahs?
- Customer: "Is this a musical instrument?"
- Me: "No. That's a menorah."
- Customer: "A what?"
- Me: "A menorah? It's a candle holder used during the celebration of Hanukkah..."
- Customer: "How do you play it?"
- Me: "Um..."
- (This actually happened to us at work tonight; the original poster is my coworker.)

Laptop update
What seems to be the problem is that the DC jack has slipped inside the computer, and the power cord isn’t connecting to it. This is apparently not uncommon for a Toshiba Satellite, although the instructions I’m finding for how to fix it are a little beyond my technical ability.
In the meantime, if you want to stay in touch with me, go to my blog and leave a comment with info that will enable me to contact you. Comments are emailed to me, and I can check my email on my lunch break at work (or, in a pinch, on my husband’s computer). I think if you delete a comment after it gets posted, I’ll still get the email.
Might be gone from the internet for a while. Something’s gone horribly wrong with my computer; the power cord won’t stay in the socket and I need to shut it down so I don’t lose what charge I have. Cross your fingers for me, gang.

Just curious, have you watched any other animes or read any mangas besides Fullmetal Alchemist?

Not many. The first anime I ever watched was Kiki’s Delivery Service, which I thought was adorable. I’ve seen some episodes of InuYasha, which I like a lot, but since I’ve never managed to to watch it in order I get hopelessly confused even while I’m remarking on how beautiful it is.
The only non-FMA manga I’ve read are the Akira Himekawa manga adaptations of the Legend of Zelda games. I have them all, except for the one that’s currently in production.
