So I'm only on chapter 5 of Graystone but I'm LOVING it. And I'm kicking myself for not reading it sooner. It's making me want to write!! (and only the best stories manage to give me that feeling)

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

You, my dear, have just made my entire night.  Thank you SO much.

It’s finished.  My dear friend Daniela has done this marvelous full-color picture of the stained glass window from the Cathedral of Cedars, as described in chapter five of Graystone.  I’m so proud to have written something that inspired such a beautiful piece of art.  *genuinely sniffling*

She does commissions and things, if anyone is interested; you can find her on Twitter at @maddarilke.

I have to forcibly remind myself that this story is about Lady Gray, and that I can’t spend all of every chapter writing the mythology of this world.

Even though I think it’s kind of awesome.

Anyway, here, have a chapter.  Took me long enough.

Just a reminder to those of you who read Graystone:

I am pretty much making up this whole thing as I go.  If it makes any sort of coherent sense at all, I’m freaking amazed.

Characters keep adding themselves and I’m like “the hell did you come from?”

Next chapter will be up shortly and you can take it as a perfect example, because when I started writing it I didn’t have the first clue what to have them do next.

That exchange between Sabastian and Lady Gray was so sweet. I particularly liked the line “Where else could I possibly belong?” Not “go” or “what else could I do?” but belong. That right there speaks more about the bond between them than any amount of text or prose could. I love turns of phrase like that where one word changes the entire meaning of the sentence and reveals so much with so little.
crystalcello’s comment on chapter 6 of The Graystone Saga.  I am so giddy over this right now you don’t even know.

I’m trying but I seem to be unable to can this evening.

All interested parties should apply with an email address to which I can send the card image.  Whoever makes the banner ad I end up selecting will win a prize.

Don’t all jump at once, now.

I still want to do another contest for Graystone.  Would you be more likely to enter if I have a:

  • trivia contest
  • fanfic contest
  • fan art contest
  • reblogging giveaway
  • something else (please answer in the box)

(Remembering to enable answers this time…)

Finally up!  Hope you all like creepy (and I hope my descriptions do justice to what I was trying to say).

My dear friend Daniela has finished her preliminary sketches of the five gods from the ‘Graystone’ universe. She’s going to be putting all five, in color, into one big piece which is meant to be the stained glass window at the Cathedral of Cedars. Can you see why I’m excited? This girl’s art is probably of higher quality than my story!

Hi.

Apparently I can’t quit you, Tumblr.  I’ll get to all those lovely things in my inbox for a minute (you guys missed me??), but first I have a couple items to share.

First: I’m now part of a conclave of local photographers who are trying to contribute to a book.  The more people like my pictures, the better my chances of being included in the book are.  If you’d like to help me out, go here and check out my photos.

Second, I’ve received some more preliminary line art for my friend Daniela’s picture of the five gods in the Graystone Saga.  I almost cried.  Her sketch of Eliana, the sun goddess, is even more beautiful than I’d hoped.
